Yearly Participation

Texas Dance Improvisation Festival

October 17-19, 2019

TDC attends this festival every year to learn from the giants of improvisation and to represent Texas State University as the state's only improvisation-based dance company.

Art in the Park

DATE TBD

Created by division of dance faculty member Amanda McCorkle, Art in the Park is a festival held at Texas State University in Sewell Park. It is an opportunity for the students of Texas State to come together and create multiple forms of art in one space.

Informance

April 30th and May 1st, 2020

TDC hosts its own performance to showcase the accomplishments of its members and to share our love of improvisation with friends and family. Last year was the first year that Transient asked other student groups and alumni to put their pieces in the show, and it was a hit! This is the reason for two nights in a row. The show this year will have a theme, which will be determined no later than January 2020.

Occasional Participation

American College Dance Association

March 12-14, 2020

This regional conference is held so that dancers from colleges across the south-central region can come together and learn from incredible artists and teachers. Last year TDC had the wonderful opportunity to perform and represent Texas State University in an informal performance at ACDA. If TDC is not selected for this honor again, individual students may still go to the conference and enjoy learning from the professionals present.

Student Ensemble Showcase

April 2-4, 2020

This year will be the first iteration of the student ensemble showcase. Students and student organizations will have the opportunity to present a piece to the division of dance faculty in December 2019 to be reviewed. A selection from the applicants will then be chosen to be performed in the showcase. Transient will be submitting at least one piece to be considered in this showcase, and work will start on this as soon as the fall semester begins.
